First time out, ever

Heading to ely this weekend for the first time out duck hunting. I guess it's supposed to be a high of 37 with snow and rain.

I'm just curious what to expect, and would appreciate any last minute advice.

What you can expect .... very cold and wet. Be sure your waterproof and dress for weather even colder than it is, you cant move to keep warm.

Crummy weather out of the north could push a bunch of new birds into that area, or it might just push all the locals farther south. It's kinda the luck of the draw. I just love hunting in the worst weather she can bring - I've had my best hunts in the cruddiest weather. Good luck too ya'.

Wow, what a riot. The 5 of us shot 23 ducks on Saturday and 12 on sunday. That was the most fun I can rememeber having in a really long time. I can't wait to go out and do it again.

What type of ducks did you end up bagging? Was the weather as bad as you thought it was going to be? What lake? Did you do any fishing while you were there?

We bagged some bluebills, redheads, pintails, mallards, widgeons, and I don't remember the names of the rest. Mostly divers with a few puddlers here and there. Didn't get any fishing done, even though we had hoped to. We were on Shagawa lake and yes the weather sucked, especially sunday morning, windy, snowing, and cold.
