duckbuster
I experienced something this weekend that I don't know if it will ever happen again to me. I know most of you are die-hard duckhunters like me and if this has not happened to you I hope some day it does!! Friday morning I walked into a beaver dam about 3-4 hundred yards across and maybe less than a 1/4 mile long. The main body of water was probable 3-4 hundred yards by6-8 hundred yards long. You could have walk across the ducks, I don't think there was a foot of open water in that space. If I were to guess I would say some where around 5000 ducks. The ROAR that they made was ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE. All ring bills. Say what you want about hunting mallards, woodies or teal but there is NO comparison to hunting bills when they are diving all over the place, The sound they make cutting the wind is fantastic. Needless to say it was a weekend of great hunting and loads of memories. I hope everybody had a safe weekend. GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING

Borch
Oh goody, Goody. I'm heading that direction for a fishing/hunting trip in about a week(Cass Lake area). I love the divers too. Time to throw in a few more diver decoys!
Fisher Dave
I witnessed a sight like that years ago in the Brainerd area but 95%+ were Mallards. It sounds like the northern flight is working its way in. I havent been out for about a week because we had to do a last-minute, unscheduled or expected move ... hope a few of them birds find theyre way to the central part of the state to shoot at over the next few days.Good luck all. Guest
Interesting, I hunt on the Canadian side of Lake of the Woods and we have virtually no ring-bills to speak of. I've heard of huge rafts of them on Net Lake and some lakes and dams in the area are full of em. I guess they must have come a little south because of the lack of feed on LOW. There is no rice whatsoever due to the high water this summer. Oh well the bills are on the lake now and provide us with a lot of good huntin' until freeze up. Good Huntin!
