JBMasterAngler
Does anyone use salmon eggs in the winter? I'll be fishing some lakes where 2 lines are legal for stream trout, and am thinking maybe they could work with a dead stick? Just curious if anyone has been able to compare them with euros and/or live minnows?
DrJuice1980
I do not have an answer for you but a tip, when ice fishing finicky panfish I use a salmon/trout egg with a plain hook, I slide the egg up to the eye hole and a euro or waxie on the hook or minnow if its crappies I am after. It can be deadly when they are not active. I have not done a whole lot of winter trout fishing but if they were not interested in the minnow or grub options I would definatley try this combo. JBMasterAngler
I kinda' did the same thing when I would dead stick with a plain hook, but instead of an egg, I'd use a big red bead above the hook. I don't know if it made a difference, but it sure looked tempting.
