Otters

I've trapped 2 big otters in the same trap in the last week and half. The set is right next to a very large, and occupied beaver house. It's on a small lake with small streams and other swamps connecting to it. I know it's hard to say, but I'm wondering how many more otters are using the lake? I know the limit is 4 so I'm already half way there...Kind of a nice bonus when checking beaver traps.

Generally otters travel in pairs, but I've caught three females out of the same creek between two lakes this year. What sex were your otters? Keep the traps there, because more will probably filter in throughout the season. Otters travel a long ways every week.

I have seen up to 5 swimming around together at once on several ocasions.

Three years ago me and my trapping partner pulled six otter from two side by traps in four days. Those short little otter legs cover a lot of ground.
