Scott K
I just had the internet company come here, and they installed a new modem. Now, I cant get the Xbox to connect to the internet. I have everything else in the house connected to the modem wireless. I have erased the networks, and re searched, then re entered in the password. No go. Even though, everything else works. The playstation works, my laptop, my phone, they all connect to it wirelessly. Just not the Xbox. I have unplugged the modem, I have restarted the Xbox. What else can I try doing? Lowblazah
How old is your Xbox...what type of security did they setup on your router?
Scott K
It is a WPA/ WANIt is a year old, and it worked as of last night, and it never had any issues. The internet dude comes today, and now the Xbox wont connect to the internet. It does connect to the router, but says no internet.
Whoaru99
Could be some sort of firewall rule/port blocking in the router that prevents the necessary connections for gaming.More an more of this stuff is coming pretty locked down where you have to go in and knowingly open the ports or turn off the firewall rule(s). ted4887
I would just call Xbox @ 1800-4-my-xbox (I think it's on my speed dial). I've always had pretty darn good luck in the past with the network specialists being able to help me out. Chances are you need to do some sort of port forwarding thing like I had to do last time.Heck, the last time I called they gave me a free 12 month extention on my Xbox Live subscription since I've been a member for so long. Be really nice and you might score some freebies too.

ted4887
Bummer. I suppose since I've been an xbox live member since it's inception, I was due a freebie or two. Perhaps you'll have better luck next time.

Scott K
A setting in the modem, Something I unchecked in the LAN settings. I dont recall what it was I unchecked though. I was on the phone with them for an hour at least, checking things, and changing settings. I asked him about lag, and he had me run a ping test, saying slow ping speeds of over 50ms would cause that, and he had me run a ping test and had me load the system, to check if other devices using internet effected, or made the ping drop out. He even recorded, and watched me play a game while on the phone. But at the time, there was no lag, and the system played good. But, I really havent noticed a huge lag issue since I switched internet providers. It was more of a lets see what they have to say about it type of thing.
