fishyspringer
I am thinking about getting a four wheeler that would mostly be used for ice fishing. Pulling my portable house and also my small skid house(5x8). Would a two wheel drive four wheeler with chains on the tires work very well? Obviously once the snow gets too deep it wouldn't go to well. At what depth of snow do you think it would become to much for a two wheel drive unit? Thanks! hamms-scooter
A 2 wheel drive with chains is a good setup. The chains are huge!
gunmunky
I currently have a 2wd 91' Yamaha Moto 4 350. The thing just runs all the time. I've gotten stuck a few times and the thing I like is that I can pick up the front or back, swing it around, and off I go. I just put a winch on this summer and am currently making a plow mount for it. Like hamms-scooter said, Chains are a must. I keep thinking about getting a 4wd but I have never had a situation where I really needed it. Another big plus for mine is that I only have to register 1 more time and then never again! I have been considering making another set of skies for the front tires and then I will be able to go thru even deeper snow.
fishersofmen
Dang I was thinking 4wd would be a must. I need a quad to plow my driveway maybe I could get by with a cheaper 2wd......
The Grebe
If you have an asphalt driveway, I think the chains would eat it up. Those chains really dig in!
