jay83196
So a buddy got from a friend of his a 54 caliber muzzle loader he's having a he'll of a time finding supplies for it (gander, Joes, Capras all nothing) any suggestions? Can you use the 50 caliber gun powder pellets in it? He has correct size bullets but guy gave him 50 cal pellets, anybody ever heard of that? Thanks,
fr0sty
Maybe use loose poweder instead of pellets?

K_Josh87
its dang tough to find anything thats not 50 cal anymore... i have a 45 cal... and its almost impossible to find bullets for it, usually the places have some tri 7 pellets... used to be a lot easier to get the supplies... lakevet
Loose powder is best to fine tune for accuracy. Triple 7 is readily available around here. All of us are back to loose powder. Lots of projectiles in .54 available, just not always at local sporting goods. May need to get off internet. Power belts, saboted bullets, solid lead projectiles and round ball all still being manufactured. Most of us shoot .54's and have no problem getting supplies.lakevet
flipper
I have three .54s. One is a round ball shooter, one for lead conicals, and the other saboted bullets. They all are great rifles. Loose powder is the way to go whether you choose real black or one of the subs.
