Grouse Hunting Near Breezy Point

Recommended Posts

I used to hunt Crow Wing county administered land right on the west border of the city of Breezy Point. Excellent area along some sedge meadows and beaver ponds, always held grouse. Go down past (west) of the horse pastures and turn south. Can't remember the road names.

That is off of the south end of Ranchette. Not labeled, but a snowmobile trail goes off into it to the west. Check Crow Wing County land services HSOforum for more county land. They maintain some nice gated walking trails with pretty good hunting in the area, plus other county land locations.

The spots I am giving up are right in Breezy Point. I have no doubt that you can shoot a box of shells right in that area of which I speak. That is unless you are a better shot than I! I miss hunting that spot. My Parents lived in Breezy, and every thanksgiving I hunted those swamp edges. Google earth it, you will not be disappointed.

Be aware your friendly local trapper may also be working the area. If you have a dog along ... become familiar with releasing animals from conibears and snares. If you see long wood or metal stakes driven into the ground - skirt them.

Good Luck
