Sand Burr
Utility knife on cement worked best for me. Land/water is probably the best if you can find that kind of room.
GullGuide
I would like to add something to SandBurr's post-Lay down a sheet of plywood and cut on this. It will help to keep the blade sharp.Great economical way to add more to your spread!>"////=<
Duck-o-holic
Rippin' Lip--The key to getting into the birds is scouting! If you can locate ANYWHERE where the birds want to be-- water or land, you should do well. Also consider changing your tactics. The field that I hunted on early-goose opener had 300+ ducks winging in during the first hour of sunlight... then nothing. If you find a good field, maybe hunt it in the morning-- and then go jumping potholes, creeks or ditches. The birds (especially geese) will usually return in the evening, but this does you no good in the early season when the day ends at 4pm. If I had a great field scouted out, I'd definitely consider opening there-- but I'd make dang sure I had it scouted well, and knew where and when the birds wanted to be there. Good luck wherever you end up!Duck-o-holic
Rippinlip
Ready to start producing them, how do you cut them out? Commercial Grade scissors or just a utility knife? Another question to all of you waterfowlers. (I am new to this)Is it worth hunting dry land this weekend or do you have to be on the water to have better success? MnSportsman
Rippin-lip, Down here were we are(SE Mn.), puddle-jumping & walking waterways on the first weekend has brought us pretty good success. Especially on "bluebird" days like this coming Saturday. You can try along the Ol'Miss(Weaver bottoms, for example)if you like, but it's most likely gonna be crowded.Whitewater's Doerrer Pools was good in the past also, but not sure if open to hunting anymore. Good Luck!{P.S.- I still owe ya that beverage from "ice out" } ------------------Good Luck & Watch your bobber!MnSportsmanProud to be a member in good standing, of the "Church of the Divine Wilderness"!
