Deer tracking

Recommended Posts

In snow or solid ground you can feel the imprint and generally tell if it is fresh or not. If it was fairly recent the dirt/snow will be soft and moist, most likely small grains will fall as you gently touch the inside of the track. If it is old the track will be firm and dried up.

The same goes for scrapes and rubs. If the dirt that is scattered is still soft and "fresh" it was a recent scrape. If the bark is moist or you see some on top of a recent snow you know he was there within a day.
