Replacement option problems for Strikemaster lazer auger unit

I lent the auger to a friend and it came back a little funky after falling off the truck. It is the 4 blade 8" auger.

The few times I went out last year it needs a TON of downward pressure to cut and it has a slight wobble. I'm fairly certain the bit is bent slightly.

What are my replacement options? I've seen replacement units for $16 but they look like 2 blade units and that seems expensive. The nils has mythical reviews and I believe I can adapt it to the SM powerhead.

What would you recommend?

I don't think they sell the 224 anymore. I my opinion the two Blade lazer bit is better.

Your only options are to get the Strikermaster Lazer drill unit or the chipper style drill unit.

replacement cost for a 8" drill unit would be :

Lazer drill unit $159.99

Chipper style drill unit $119.99

if you don't mind me asking where do you think you can get the whole replacement drill unit for $16, blades for these drill units are more expensive then that.

Looks like a typo and supposed to be $160, since he states it seems expensive, and you even quoted a price of $159.99, or in other words, $160.

Hate to correct you Brad but there is actually another option. Icegator sells an adapter to run the Nils bit on a Strikemaster power head. I did this last year with great results. Not going to start a pis---- contest here but the Nils augers are pretty tough to beat. You'll end up spending about $210 to get yourself a brand new drill with the worlds best hand auger to boot.

that's cool. do you know how much they ask for the adapter. do you happen to know what company makes the adapter to take a hand auger and make it so it can be hooked to a cordless drill.

I was thinking typo too but wanted to be sure. just want to clarify it wasn't some off brand drill unit that was actually a drill unit from a hand auger.

Cabelas has the electric drill adapter. The typo was supposed to be 160. I found the same auger used for 150... So I just may go that way and have a backup powerhead.
