duck hunting from a yak

Recommended Posts

I lived on a good duck hunting river for several years and literally you had to paddle out quickly to get each duck before the current swept them away. I used a little kayak to retrieve, and on occasion I did shoot out of it, so I know it can work. CAUTION! Shoot straight ahead, never off-kilter or sideways...kayaks aren't meant to tip that way wink

If you are able to get into some thick reeds or on solid ground, that's a bonus. It can definitely be done. In fact, if you can back into some thick cover and you have a good blind, I would say it would be better than a traditional set since you won't stick out nearly as much as a boat or canoe blind.

I've hunted for years out of a 14' old town predator. It is a very stable kayak and I have shot any direction I wanted to because of the wide bottom. Most recreational kayaks are very stable and work great for this kind if use.
