Ice Fishing Tournaments

The kids and I are wanting to place a couple ice fishing tournaments on the calendar this season. We're not the competitive sort but enjoy the atmosphere and the chance for a prize.

Is there a comprehensive list of tournaments anywhere so a person could pre-plan a bit? I found a 2012 calendar the DNR had published, but nothing for 2013. Any idea when that might be updated? Also, would appreciate suggestions for kid friendly events. I'm hoping to get to the big Brainered event and would like to add a couple others.

Worthington's ice derby is great for kids and families and is scheduled for January 12th, lots of great prizes and then you can see the crazies after the tournament jump in the frozen lake to raise money!! It's during Worthington's Winterfest stores have specials and it's a fun derby, usually 150 or better people signed up to fish, you can fish in portables or hard houses or tough it out on a bucket!

I would just call the DNR and talk to someone in the "ice contest permit office" they should have a list of some sort already started, suppose there still might be deadlines not reached yet for this upcoming season and why not already one out there. Don't know exactly what info is published but would think you could kind of get some type if feel for the contest by seeing prize amounts, number of allowed entries, ect.....

I fished a couple tourneys with jr. last year and it was pretty fun....he got a little bored and I was a little too serious at times though. Good luck and have fun!

i did "holes for heroes" event last year and had a blast even though fish did not cooperate much. what is really nice bout this event is many chances for all to win for only $5 entry (i think) plus it supports soldiers & their families. they had kids & adults winners in each of 5 largest fish categories (crappie, perch, bass, walley, pike) plus for each fish u caught u received a ticket to put in any given bucket for raffles.

Big lake jaycees also has a nice inexpensive late ice tourney (was cancelled last year due to unsafe late ice)

What I have seen in the past couple of years is that once the tournament confirms the date, it gets updated. I think a lot if the tournaments are slow to post this year due to all of last years cancellations. Most, if not all the tournaments usually don't start until end of january.
