paceman
I was out this morning. Had a nice doe at about 10 yards and then a bit later a spike came ambling by. I will be in a different stand tommorrow morning and then I won't be out again until Monday evening.
huntnfish
I went out last night and found more scrapes and rubs in this spot than I've seen in the 12 years hunting there. I usually won't hunt this until close to the rut as there's usually only does. There were a couple trees torn up that I'm pretty sure I could have used for my climbing stand. Saw 8 fawns without their mommas. 2 groups of pairs and the rest singles wandering around lost. Had a buck come by right at dark but there's no way he was the one tearing up those trees. archerystud
I'll be in the stand tomorrow night and I have all of next week off.I don't think I've seen a year before where it appears that Mother Nature is cooperating so much for the week before gun season. Most of the time that I've done this the temps have been in the 60's or 70's or there is still a bunch of corn in.Heck I might not even see a nice buck but just the fact that the weather seems to be cooperating gets me fired up. That and the fact that the worst day hunting is still better than the best day working helps as well.
huntnfish
There's something about the gray days and cool air that has that wonderful feeling to it. This year seems so much different since the crops are long gone and all the deer are in the woods. They were sure hitting the acorns last night.
