Wondering if anyone uses one of these mr heaters big buddy heater, they say it can put out 18,000 btu's seems kinda small to do that. Looking to use it in my wheel house which is 11x7 6 ft tall just wondering how long it might take to heat up. I like how it has all the safety functions on it. Any input would be great thanks

love mine, best ice fishing gift given to me to date. If you hook it up to a large cylinder make sure to use the filter. There will be others who say they are junk, but I have had mine for 3 seasons now with no issues. I have been using mine to heat my 6.5 x 14ft this fall while I am working on it, and it heats mine up fast, granted the temps aren't real cold, but it should still do the trick. You could also look at the wall mount version from Mr. Heater

As everyone else has said its a great heater. As far as heating a wheel house not sure about that.... How many btu's do the typical wall mount heaters put out?

the wall mount ones are offered in 10,000 BTU, 20,000 BTU, & 30,000 BTU.

I have taken my Big Buddy and used it to heat my 22' X 22' garage in the dead of winter if I needed to work out there. with the 10' ceiling it took about a half an hour to warm the garage to a comfortable temp. A Big Buddy will be more than enough to heat your wheel house and should do so in a fast manner.

The Big Buddy is an excellent heater and also has holes in the back that you can hang it on a wall. so if you want a portable heater that you can also hang and use in a shack it will do the job for you. As stated above i also use it to heat my garage.

I am definately a fan of them! I use mine in the portable and also take it along on trips to go hunting and along in the wheel house just in case of problems! It's great in the portable even on cold windy days with the fan on top it helps warm up quickly! -10 temp and 20mph wind in a portable and i had my coat off in a short sleeve shirt and still turning it on medium was good. I know others have had problems, but I love mine!

I have one as well for my portable, but for my wheelhouse I have a vented wall heater. A vented wall heater is the best way to go. Vented is always a plus. Not to mention that the Big Buddy heater, while warm, it's pilot flame will blow out easily. Doors opening and shutting during a windy day will cause you to have to light and relight it. Do yourself a favor and get a vented wall unit. You'll be glad you did.

Big buddy will heat that shack up in 20 minutes on a cold day.

It will however create condensation on your roof if not insulated.

The standard vented heater is 20000 btu and the big buddy is 18000.

For the price i'd say get the big buddy and the bulk hose adapter so you can run big propane tanks.

Also you can bring the heater with you when not using the house and no chance of it getting stolen.
