Strategies for this cold spell

Last time I was out it was still low 60s water temps. Im hearing upper 40s right now? Anyone confirm. Hope to get out this weekend. Ill have a standard jig/pig, some cranks, spinnerbait (for both burning or slow rolling), a pointer (jerkbait), and probably a finesse hair jig of some sort.

I dont think you need to wait for the warm days in the fall. Sure they are more tolerable and a sunny afternoon can pump them up late afternoon sometimes but honestly Id take steady cooling fall over up and down, hot and cool days.

Hopefully the wind and cold nights turned all the lakes over a week ago so I dont run into one in the middle of it.

The bass are REALLY shallow right now. Ive been on something like 5 lakes this week, in the metro, and all strikes have come in 3' or less. Northerns too. Small baits.

I think that they are not actively seeking food or a confrontation but will take what looks like an easy kill.

I made it out yesterday for a couple hours. What a nice day to be out. Smallies were surprisingly active for the first half hour I was there. I caught 5 fish and had my jig straiten out on another. Then went the next 2 hrs without a bite. Put the camera down and saw smallies everywhere still, but no more takers. All fish were caught dragging a reaction innovation swimbait. Tried jignpig, tubes and drop shot also. Should of tried a jigworm. Fish were all 17 to 19".
