What locator will work?

I have a 10 yr old 55# Minnkota PD with a built in transducer and the adapter cord to connect to a locator. The connector to the locator end is a 1/2" diameter 3 pin charcoal colored end with a 7/8" diameter screw on 'keeper' surrounding it. The trolling motor end is 1/4" diameter 3 pin black plastic with a 1/2" diameter 'keeper'.

The US 2 adapter doesn't connect to the trolling motor. I expect that the locator will have to be an older unit to connect to the above adapter.

Any ideas of locators that will fit?

That adapter sounds like the one I have for a lowrance unit.

What brand depthfinder are you attempting to connect to it?

If it is the lowrance one, it works fine on older units and the new HDS models. I have used both on mine. The HDS models have a plug with blue instead of charcoal, but both work fine when connected to my MinnKota US2.

Am looking for a locater that will connect to it. It does not fit units with a plug such as an Eagle 480.

It sounds like a lowrance plug which is not compatible with eagle. Any lowrance sonar should work with the exception of the elite series ones I believe. If you don't have a sonar to connect to it it is far cheaper to just buy the adapter to work with the unit you do have.

It would be cheaper but I don't think they make an adapter that fits the trolling motor anymore. That's what I was told by an authorized MinnKota dealer and I also haven't been able to find one.

i am running my eagle 480 gps puck on a lowrance x15 after the lowrance gps puck went bad. no difference in aquiring sats. so the plugs must be compatable on some units

If you havent done so already, I would suggest going to the large outfitter websites and poke around. I was able to see on the C Store HSOforum the adapter for the model Eagle you have listed. Take a peek there and Ba$$pro or the outdoorpro store here may even have them, but I havent looked.

On C store, its shows your model in the "backorderable" category, so you should be able to get one.
