02 gmc sierra vents

my pickup's vents don't switch to the floor. It will only go from vent to defrost. Does anybody have any tips on how many doors it has or actuator motors?

what kind of truck? Some run off of vaccumm, when mine goes to defrost only its usually because a vaccumm line came off at the 4x4... then the auto hubs don't work... for a 50,000 dollar truck when they are new one would think they would come up with a better system...

This uses electronic actuators to control the blend door, mode door, and the recirculating door. If you look up under the drivers side of the dash you should see the mode actuator. If you switch between defrost and vent you might be able to hear or see it working. If you remove it you can try to move the door to the floor position by hand. If you can't then there is a problem with the door.

If you can than you will need to get a scan tool (not a code reader) and look into whether or not the control head is sending the correct signal to the actuator. If it is than a new actuator will likely solve the problem. They are not that expensive so there wouldn't be any harm in trying one to see if it corrected the problem. If the signal is not being sent to the actuator than the control head is the likely problem.
