Transom Savers

Bought a new boat a few weeks ago outfitted with a Yamaha F150. Yamaha includes a "shock absorber" which slides over tilt/trim piston. Salesman claimed it to be a transom saver. I just don't see how this device alleviates any weight from the transom. Being it's a fiberglass boat, should I risk using this shock absorber, or purchase the real deal?

get a transum saver. it helps everything on the transum with motor and everything. i sell them on every single boat

Yup get a Transom saver that will go from trailer to lower unit.

We've never had to replace a transom on a boat that used a transom saver.
