Great time at the Duquette Enduro!

I finally had time to get a few pictures together from the last Minnesota Enduro of 2012 and thought I'd share them. I hadn't raced since 2002 and this was my youngest son, Mitchell's first ever. We rode on the same minute and he did real well. Finishing behind me the first half of the event and ahead of me the last couple of checks. The plan is for the fat, old guy to get in better shape and for both of us to run the whole series next year and see how we do. Judging by his score and being his first race, I think he'll have a real good shot at a year end award next. We've put in an almost 4 mile loop behind the house and with a little more practice on his part and a few less meals and a lot more training on mine, we'll both do just fine and have a ball doing it. My dad who's 66 is still racing the masters class and has a great time hanging with all the guys. I saw a lot of old faces and it was like I never left. Great bunch of people and truly a great family event. I think my dad ended up 2nd in his class and Mitchell took fourth in his. If I wouldn't have taken him and another kid out in one of the last sections he would have ended up with at least 2nd.

Yeah Leach,

My dads probably in better shape now than I am. I started in 1995 and got him into it that year, racing hare scrambles and enduros. I think I quit for two years, 2000 and 2001 and came back in 2002 and hung it up since then. After the 2002 season I was advanced to the A class and figured since I finished there I should start there. Believe me, a lots changed in 10 years. Mostly my weight and stamina. I think I can petition to go back to B but I'm not sure right now if I want to do that. I would have been third in Senior B but ended up 11 th in Senior A. Not too bad and now I know where I stand and maybe that'll motivate me to get training for next year. Being an old guy isn't an excuse as there were a few Senior A riders who were Double A not that long ago and the second fastest guy that day was Matt Stavish, a 44 years old that was the #2 National Enduro Series rider in 97 or 98 behind only Mike Lafferty which is a huge accomplishment.

Matt was over riding at our place way back when and I was in awe of what a rider of that caliber could do on a bike. Maybe there's still hope for me whistle
