Different Bear ?

Recommended Posts

I am curious as to what others have noticed this year that have harvested a bear or Skinned a bear this year. How much fat are you noticing on the bears in your area? I am up here by LOTW and the bear I shot dressed out at 180lbs. This bear had less fat on it then what I normally find on a deer. Everyone tells me that normally the fat on the bear's back can be 2"-4" thick. The fat on the back of mine was abour a 1/4" thick and maybe 3/4" thick on the rump. I am geussing because of how dry it has been up here in this area that they are lacking in their natural foods.
