Mold or Fungus??

Just recently installed a berm with some young bushes and mulch. Just recently we have been "growing/developing" 6" round plates of "stuff". It looks like someone threw up but it isn't that. It picks up like a pancake and then we just throw it away.

Any thoughts???

Ya, a photo would help. There are oodles of fungi and molds out here especially if you live in an area that happened to get in on the rains in August. I found some stuff growing out of a stump in the garden that looks like Cream of Wheat. While what you're describing is not ringing a bell, there could be Norwegians & Swedes in the area tossing out some of last year's lefse that's out of code. grin

Whatever it is, probably some type of fugus, came from, if I am reading this right, the newly laid down mulch. Have seen this before, as after that mulch sits an stews in that big pile at the suppliers, once it is spread out and whatever optimum conditions are ripe for whatever variety of mold, fungus, lichen it is; it just blows up all at once. Usually it will be a one time deal though....unless you rake it back into a big pile and spread it out again next spring smile
