Ford Question

Recommended Posts

Kind of a shot in the dark but here goes...

I have a 2003 F150. Yesterday it started to make a squeek while at low speeds. I jacked it up and found that the squeek happens every time the drive shaft spins. The squeek gets higher pitched and faster as speed increases and eventually goes away. It makes no noise in reverse or if I put it in Neutral and spin the tires to make the drive shaft spin. Only when the truck is in forward gear does it make the noise. When I use a tube to my ear to find the source I'm lead to the center of the drive shaft... Any takers??? lol Im puzzled thanks

The first stages of a U-joint going bad! As time passes the squeek will go away, then you will start to have a clang or clunk when you put it in gear. After that....well replace it before you get to that point.
