Spincast Reel for Braided Line

I know this has been discussed before, but can't find it by searching. Want to get a set up for my wife. Planning on putting it on a 6ft. casting rod using PP line.

What's your suggestions?

I thought Johnson made a nice spincast. I don't know if they make them anymore "Cast a country mile" but I picked up one for my dad since that's what he uses a few years ago at Gander.

I would think; since it will have braid on it, that the pick up pins would have to be stainless steel or ceramic.

Del- I cant think of one on the market that will handle it, eventually the line will eat through the pin. Just a short matter of how long it will last.. IF, and I mean IF any of them will handle it, I would look at the Diawa Gold Cast.

I know!!There is one with titanium coated pins?? Wish the Mrs. liked casting more. She handles a baitcast well, BUT!! She has a place on the Miss. and there are times the 10# mono just doesn't cut it!

Abu Garcia makes their 1276SLI model specifically for braid. All line-contact points are titanium coated. It costs $65.00.

Pflueger's Cetina line of reels all feature titanium coated line pickups. I believe these are in the $40 $50 dollar range.

If you're not throwing big lures, and not throwing them hours on end, any of these reels should be acceptable.

Guess i'm back to hoping the Diawa gold cast may work. Was checking the reviews on the Abu Garcia, and the Pflueger. Both have gotten poor reviews.

Just heard back from Diawa. They say NONE of thier spincast models will handle braided line very well. Bummer!!
