WOW. Now this again shows how HB is blowing the competition out of the water.

Like they did with side imaging, here is a 360 degree side imaging view.

Of course it isn't cheap, but I love it already.

Now what makes it even more exciting, is ice fishing with this baby. 360 degree sonar would be the cats meow for ice fishing.

Just more toys for the boys.

I fail to see how this will really help on the ice (beyond the incredibly complicated set up and jerry-riging needed with such an expensive toy). The SI/DI images aren't great at marking fish, or providing real time feedback.

The only real benefit I see is being able to look a head potentially when you are casting to cover.

I would say their integration with MinnKota with the new i-pilot is 1000x more useful and innovative than this. I will also say the Lowrance overlay of the SI data on the map is pretty darned slick too.

Its a good time for fishing electronics (LX-9 comes to mind too), but you better have a good job or a rich uncle.

Dont worry im sure "whitebassman" can afford it on his salary. For the average angler it is out of question till Humminbird makes their technology friendly affordable.

I'm thinking more as a scouting tool for ice fishing. To be able to pinpoint where structures and fish are without having to drill 300+ holes to find them. Rigging shouldn't be too bad.

Even if HB or someone can produce a smaller version for ice fishing that would be awesome. When LX-7 was being touted as revolutionary by Marcum last year, I was hoping it would be something more like this. A 360 deg view of the water below the hole. Not just a digital flasher.

Hell, but even on my salary, 2k is too much. But it is nice to see fishing electronics improve.

Certainly there could be an adaptation for ice, but I would think in its current state it would be a royal PITA for ice fishing.. As much as I love my Birds, I cant get too excited over this apparatus..

All Minnkota had to do, was add a programmed 360 turn into the Terrova at the same rotational value/speed of the new piece. As it is right now, the Terrova is too fast for 360 scanning, but it certainly could have a speed programmed into it for this.

Before anybody gets out their wallet for this hardware, I suggest you invest on SI on the trolling motor first.. Lots less expensive, and probably just as effective... at least it is for me..
