replacement outboard fuel line?

low277

Question

I have a 90hp Yamaha outboard that uses portable gas tanks. The current hose is starting to leak slightly at both the tank and the motor. I am looking to buy a replacement hose assembly. Is there any brands that are better than others? The one that I have is a tempest I believe and has always felt cheap.

Any suggestion on brand and where to get it?

I just replaced the fuel line on my ranger this spring. Talking to some friends that are/were mechanics they said to make sure not to cut any corners because they saw a lot of collapsed fuel lines each summer. I tried finding a merc line but was unsuccessful so I ended up with bombardier. It was 5 something per foot but well worth the piece of mind.

If the end fittings of your fuel line are good you could just go to NAPA (or similar) and get the bulk fuel hose by the foot. Bring your fittings along to make sure you get the right diameter and pick up some good clamps while your at it. This type of hose seems to be of much better quality than the pre-made outboard hoses that they sell.

The hose is ok, although somewhat stiff, it is the connectors that are starting to leak. I thought I could replace the o rings in them but they seem to have a hard plastic ring instead of a rubber o ring. I looked at some individual ends and they seem to be made the same way?
