Looks like there is a good possibility that they are going to lift the ban on Snowmobiles in VNP. I quote "Eleven Bays in VNP may be opened to snowmobile use this winter. The U.S. Park Service is exected to announce its decision within a month.

Good news! I rode some of those bays in the mid 90's when some of the bans were last lifted. Some of the best powder riding I ever had, although there was a lot of slush to contend with that year.

It has now been confirmed. 11 bays, that have been closed since 1992, will be open to snowmobilers this winter. They are on Kabetogama, Namakan, Rainy, and Sand Point. Now people just need to ride responsible so that we ensure these areas stay open.
