Netting?

Scoot

Recommended Posts

I refurbished a ground blind recently and didn't have any burlap to wrap the blind in. I ended up using landscaping material. I was happy with this material, but I'm concerned that wind will get under the seams and tear it out eventually. I'd like to get some inexpensive netting to put over the top of it- it'd have to be about 8' wide and at least 16' long (both length and width can be cut). It really doesn't matter how big the holes in the netting are, as long as they are at most 4" wide.

Does anyone know where I can get netting like this for not much money? I assume somebody makes this for some purpose, but I'm not finding it on the cheap. Suggestions please!

MR, that's the stuff that I am currently using (great minds think alike! wink ). I think it'll work great, but I'm afraid wind will get under the seams. I wish I had rolls of 9' or so and I wouldn't have to worry about the seams. I imagine one can get them, but I didn't have that- I had 4' stuff, so I've got two seams that I want "pinned" down.

I looked over lunch today and I can't find anything for very cheap. Everything I find starts at about $50, and that's more than I want to spend on this...

Scoot,

how about bulk army netting or camo it might exceed your budget but it's got holes in it to add more natural cover and it comes in one big piece that may cover your whole blind.....i'm thinking for you.

Yep, and I appreciate it! That's exactly where I started my thinking for this. However, your thoughts about budget are exactly right- everything I've found is too expensive. I thought maybe I could find some cheap nylon netting for little money, but I've only found it in one place and it cost $10 for a 9'x3' piece. I'd six of those to cover the blind and I don't want to get $60 into it...

Plastic snow fence, chicken wire, camo netting- all get expensive pretty fast when I get enough of it to cover the whole blind.

Scoot, have you tried something like raspberry netting? .

I have no clue if it'll work, but I just ordered some. It's about the right dimensions, so I figured it was worth a shot. Thanks for the suggestion!

I hope it works for you. I know when my grandma was alive, and she quit gardening, I took hers raspberry netting. I just made some framework out of pvc pipe, and let the wild cucomber vines grow threw it. Each fall b4 hunting (gun) I would go out and clear the window area I needed of the vines and the deer never know the difference.

Scoot, if you think you need to get some material that runs a bit more, let me know what half of it would be and I will send you a check. My handi-capped hunters will use the blind maybe as much as you and I would be more than happy to pay for half the netting costs.
