Best over the counter baits and lures for trapping

Recommended Posts

I dont make own stuff (bait) and usually buy all it from Scheels or MN Trapping supply catalog on line. What are some good baits and lures for Coyote's and fox? And what is a good Mink, muskrat lure? Thanks..

I use more lure than bait for fox and coyote Caven's from MTP is my prefered lures. For mink I've been going to more blind sets as I can get more traps out and not have to worry about bait or lure I feel more efficient this way. 99% of my rat trapping is runs and houses I have never used lure for rats haven't felt that it is needed. Good luck!

chunk up fish is bar far the best mink/coon/rat for pocket sets,

fish oil also

rats are more of a blind set critter

for predators any one of MTP lures or most reputable lure makers work. Trail and error, but a basic urine, gland lure and bait should get you started

I could tell you how to make a good bait for fox and yotes, but you would probably throw up =P...it involves the common house cat.

Yeah, cavens lures will be good! I recommend anything that Tim sells at MTP. Some of the louder "call" lures will be better in winter during freezing conditions, otherwise a few drops of urine and a little less stinky lure will be enough during October and November. Like stated earlier, trial and error is the way to go.

good luck
