Couple things you can do.

1st.. Take a pick or a awl and depress the little ball in the center of the zert and spray a little carb cleaner or brake cleaner in it.

probably a piece of dirt in it or dried grease.

2nd.. take the zert out it should un screw from the bearing buddy and clean it and reinstall it.

3rd.. if none of those otpions work replace the zert.unscrew it take it to a autoparts or hardware store and get a replacement.

...if all else fails replace the bearing buddy

Gordie gives you the simple solution.. I would suggest that you take off both buddy bearings and give them a good cleaning. I did it recently and I was very surprised at how much gunk had accumulated where what I will call the plunger was supposed to slide in and out. It would be a good time to repack the bearings as well but that may be going too far towards preventative maintenance.

This spring I repacked mine and I noticed one was not working correctly. I cleaned it and it still did not so that went in the garbage and a new one was put on.

Next time that happens for me, new one right away, no cleaning or grease mess.
