Volvo A/C

This is a problem on 1997 Volvo. The A/C will work when the temp is say below 80 degrees and above is where is doesn't want to. Does any one have any ideas? What might it cost and how easy or not to fix? Thanks for help.

Does the compressor run when it isnt cooling? Or is the compressor not kicking in?

By saying it doesn't want to work above 80, do you mean it doesn't work at all, or doesn't cool as much as you think/wish it would?

common problem on Volvo's is the clutch will not hold in when it gets hot. just my guess, as others are correct in asking more questions.

Has it been recharged recently? Higher temps will raise the pressures, and possibly if it were overcharged a bit it will cause the high pressure switch to shut off the compressor when temps get higher.
