20lbSloughShark
I'm back and did well. As expected I was unprepared. We asked a lady at a resort that told us the charters go 3 miles up the shore from zipple bay and in 15-20' dragging some lindy rigs. What a liar, there was no boat within a mile of us and almost no fish. We were cleaning the few small walleye talking to a charter captain. He told us to go 9 miles to birch beach in 28' and drift or downrig. We were there all saturday and sunday morning and just cleaned them out. we had 4 people in the boat and kept our limit of fish. Over the whole trip we caught maybe 40 sauger and 20 walleye, with the biggest being a 25" walleye. We released 5-10 walleye that were over the 19.5" limit, and have a ton of meat. I couldn't find live suckers, so we did very little pike fishing. There was only one point when we thought it was unsafe to be out in my aparently tiny 16', when the waves got over 3' high. Overall a good trip.
