Beeper Collars for Pointer Dogs??

I recently purchased a beeper collar for my GSP; He has taken to it quite well.

My question is I had hoped to have the “Vibrate Feature” on the collar as well. It was not until I returned home and started to play with it that I realized it does not have this feature. (Totally my Fault)

It is a DT 1800 series collar and I assumed that when you went up to the next model number 20 to 30 to 40 and so on that “ALL” the existing features came with it. But I learned that the “Vibrate Feature” does not come with a “Beeper Collar Feature”. I also want the ability to control (2) dogs for a future puppy.

What are your thoughts on the Vibrate vs Beeper??

I want the Beeper because I hunt very heavy cover mainly for pheasants.

Thanks!!!

Is there another beeper setting? Tri Tronics has the on-point beeper but the actual ecollar also has an almost silent beeper that I use as a silent recall so I'm not blowing a whistle or yelling for the dog to come back around. I use this feature a lot.

Not too familiar with the DT systems but I thought all had either a quiet beeper or a buzzer. Could be wrong though...

I also have the DT1805 two dog collar which has the vibrate on it. I use that for recall as well.

I just ordered the DT2502 T&B collar which is the two dog beeper/E collar for the sole reason of keeping track of 2 GSP's in the field.

I would imagine that I will have to look at low level stimulation to turn them around such as a 10-15 setting maybe?

there is also the option to wear two collars? Doesn't seem feasible to me though.

I did see something in GM a few weeks ago that was a beeper that you could slide over an existing E collor so you could still go with your 1800 series and buy two of those add on beepers and return the new collar. I think the add on ones are $35 a piece?

as mentioned the TT has the tone on the actual collar and then the beeper that you can remotely turn on and off. I also use the tone for the recall while out hunting

Sorry GSP4ME, I don't really understand your response?

What is TT?

Mule Shack,

What are your feelings on the "Beeper" vs "Vibrate" options though??

Truthfully, i havent taken the beeper out of the box yet being it only arrived last week.

My youngest pointer was professionally trained and they used stimulation to turn her in the field and to only range so far...so I only have to work with the older one to accomplish this.

When hunting I will be using the beeper collar so I know where they are. If I need to recall them I will simply give low level stimulation if they don't respond to the "here" command. Last year in SD, there were many times I wish I had the beeper collar on.

we have a 2 1/2 acre yard and no fence at home, so in the yard both GSP's have the E/vibrate collars on (DT1805). If I cant see them they get the vibrate to come to porch...if they are on neighbors yard they get the stimulation until they are back on our property.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
