Home-built wheelhouse insurance

I did a little searching but didn't come up with much. How do you go about insuring a home-built wheel house? It seems pretty straight forward for something like an Ice Castle but if I build something myself or buy home built from someone else I am not sure how to insure it.

Did you talk to your agent? Really not much that can't be insured. Just $ question.

Talking to my agent, the first insurance we put in place was denied because mine is home built. I'll have to double check how she got around it and get back to you.

My agent is my wife...so I need to know as little as possible about insurance!

I gave my insurance agent the permanent license tab number in place of the VIN number. He was fine with that - actually I switched insurance carriers and both Liberty Mutual and State Farm were fine with the license tab number.

It depends on where you get your insurance. Progressive won't insure homemade trailers. But other companies will. At least that's what my wife told me last night.

i also have a home built trailer. am. family had no problems with insuring it. just got a couple pictures & asked for a value.

Alright thanks. I have my auto policy through Geico and they said they didn't insure wheelhouses. After some more searching it sounds like am. fam is the way to go.
