RawHog
I've had a cabin on lake Miltona since to the early 70's and I love it for bass, both smallies and largies, It's a great lake for bang-bang 100 fish days but most days the biggest fish I catch top out at about 17-18 inches.... My issue is that In recent years I cannot seem to consistently catch largemouths over 4 pounds, it seems to be about one 4 pounder per about 30 hours of fishing. I simply want to catch some pigs... So I'm looking for a lake in the area, lets say within 25 driving miles from Miltona that is known to have large adult bass. What lakes in the Alex area hold these populations of large bass? Thanks, RAW
OLY
Minnewaska has some big ones, I have seen a 7lb largemouth, and many 5lb smallies weighed in from there.

chaseub
I have a cabin on Oscar. I have caught some nice bass out of there. The public landing is kind of a pain to get in and out of since the water is so high.

RawHog
I went to Lake vermont, a small lake about 5 miles north of lake miltona. First thing I saw when I got out there was the most textbook bass tree stump imaginable. I pitched my jig trailed with a flappin craw and a nice 18 1/2 incher grabbed it on the drop. This was probably at 5:15 AM, 45 minutes before I could legitimately see the sun, but still light enough to see what I was doing. I fished a couple more excellent looking stumps with no takers. Then, using Side Imaging I searched for the weedline in this large, deep channel that separates two parts of lake lake. This weedline was perfect-- stopped completely at 14 ft. So I took out my deep crank box, picked out a few of my favorites DT 16's and went to one of my better crank bites. I didn't find the 20"+ bass that I was looking for, I think I picked up on the pattern an hour too late to have found big mama when she was hungry. So I left at about 11, because no bites had come after about 9. But this lake has a lot of promise and I'm heading back there to find big ol' grandma bass in about... an hour.
