yes mn could have trophy pike or at least in the bigger bodies of water, Lotw, red millacs could all grow em but there too much pressure. seen a few pike close to 50 inches but all from candian waters of lotw

Wabamskee, Jac714. ... Good lists, but we DO have king salmon in MN:) i have a 26.5 on my wall to prove it! The good ol days of the late 80's are long gone, but trolling out of Duluth and up the shore still produces some respectable kings. Of course, it isn't Lake MI. ... Sigh.

I guess I was thinking of the Pacific King, I remember catching them in the 70's out of Puget sound.

For some reason, MN "king salmon" are not real king salmon in my mind.. but still good! When I picture king salmon, I'm thinking 60lbers in the Kenai and 50lbers off of Kodiak.

I'm with you both on that! Not really much comparison between great lakes kings and the Alasaka/pacific variety, but I'm still glad to have them here to play with in between big trips:)

Give me a Sockeye on a 8/9 wt fly rod spooled up for flippin and that is all I need. I wouldn't have to catch any other fish.
