Fishdeer
Lately I am seeing flocks of geese fly over the house, one group of at least twenty or so in the morning and in the evening. My question is why ? I see other geese around ponds with their young so what is up with the ones flying around, are these the young from last year that havnt settled down yet? I wish it was early goose season now because like always, 2 weeks before the early season in fall most of these local geese around here dissapear. I live in northern MN. Finlander
What you are seeing is called a molt migration which are non nesting geese that are last years young. They migrate around Memorial weekend every year. I see alot of flocks when fishing Mille Lacs and Osakis all headed north. They say they fly to Canada and spend the summer there. Why this happens is a mystery.
JimBuck
I can't blame em'. I'd love to spend my Summer in Canada.

bigbucks
They're all over the place right now, see them at my place, saw them when fishing Miltona & Osakis this weekend. I'd say flocks from 20-60 birds in them.
