I read this on Walleye Central and thought I would post it here. What do you think?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I invited a guy to go fishing with me. I have a new boat and feel pretty good about it. I pull up to his house to pick him up. He has his equipment there ready to go. It consisted of, 48QT cooler, extra anchor, anchor rope, lake map with clip board, a bag of clothes, smaller cooler for lunch, three fishing rods, and a tackle box. I have a livewell, so forget the 48Qt cooler. I have an anchor, so forget the anchor and rope, I have 2 gps units, so forget the map and clip board. He also insisted on using his net, because my rubber net is too heavy. First fish took 15 minutes to get the hooks out of his net.

We started driving and he insisted on stopping right away for night crawlers, I wanted to get them where I always' get them, close to the lake. We stop at his place and he comes out with one dozen and tells me they are too expensive. Add one more stop for crawlers. As were driving he his trying to get me to launch at a launch that he likes better then mine. We launched where I always' do.

Now were on the lake and I know exactly where I want to start out. It is the same place I last fished and caught 9 nice walleye's. He has his map out and is trying to tell me that my GPS is not reading right and we are in the wrong place. I can see my way-points from last time and I can see my trolling tracks. I have two 597 ci Hd graphs with Lakemaster chips. He then goes on to tell me that my screens are too small, because you can't read them. He also told me that I mounted them in the wrong position and went on to tell how I should have mounted them.

We are trolling along and he starts talking about my trailer and telling me that I should have got a roller trailer. I am really starting to feel the anger building and I'm having a hard time not just tearing his head off. This was just the start of a really bad day. The fish aren't biting and I'm getting frustrated.

We head back to the launch and he backs my trailer back into the water too far and the boat won't stay up against the post to hook the nose up. He is saying you should have bought a roller trailer. We get the boat out of the water and he is putting all his stuff in the back of my truck and he say's, why do you guy's buy these pick-up trucks with a short box.

Ok, here is where I really lost it and tore into him. I told him in some fashion that if he does not like my stuff then don't go fishing with me again. I feel bad that I lost my temper, but at the same time I am the type of person that does not cut down other peoples things.

There were many other things that he said during the day about my boat, fishing equipment that I didn't put in here.

So, how would you have reacted?

He would be walking home.

Does he have his own boat, if not he should be grateful that you allowed him to go with you.

This is one reason I do not post on the open boat forum even though I have many opportunities for someone to fish with me.

Some people do not appreciate what you have to offer.

I think you showed great restraint in not throwing this guy over the side. I know he would never be on my boat again. I don't know if I would have lasted all day with some one complaining about everything.

i would have left him on the shore and went my way. lol but seriously though, i try to tell my coanglers to limit their tackle and excess stuff they bring onto the boat as things get crowded fast as well as limit their bashing. Hope i dont ever come into that situation as idk what id do.

Congrats on holding your own and making it through. Thank you for giving him a chance. Being someone that does not own a boat myself, I'd be so grateful if someone can take me out. I'd bring lunch, pay for half the gas, provide drinks and bait if needed.

I'm with ya there Ctrl!! Anytime I can get ON the water in a boat I'm greatful, as I have no boat, and I always offer gas $$ or whatever to help pay for pulling the rig!

For several years I fished with a guy that was a bit off center, but he loved to fish and provided some humor on the lake....He finally got to me when he evolved to wanting to fish his spots only, harrassing and ridiculing me on my spots, wanted the boat position for his presentation,NEVER shut his mouth, and just plain being a selfish bonehead....I finally told him off saying I would "never again" fish with him.......I didn't fish with or associate with the guy for 2 years, then, finally ran into him and agreed to go fishing.....Amazingly, without a word said about past differences, he had transformed into a polite , sharing, totally reasonable fellow....I suspect he couldnt find others that would put up with his talk and suddenly had an awakening.

I'm guessing fishing partner guy has other character flaws that would have indicated the possibility of such an occurance...I'm surprised the guy with the new boat asked him to go fishing in the first place.

I drive an old beater pickup and have a boat/trailer/motor combo worth maybe $800 total, so nobody has to tell me that my junk is junk. grin

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
