cliffy
My wife and I are making our first trip to the Big V during the last week of July. We are staying at McKinkey Park near Soudan. I am not asking for anyone to give up secert spots or anything...but does anyone have suggestions of where to go to try to get into the muskies? What should I be looking for and are there any suggestions on types or lures? I have been fishing muskies for a couple of years...but have not yet fished Vermillion...so any suggestions or ideas would be great. Thanks. MNBIGBEAR
by that time I would be spending most of your time on the humps and rockpiles that are all over big bay. many of them are marked with white buoys but they will probably have been fished 5 times by the time the clock hits 6am. if you have some decent electronics, keep your eyes open for the anything that comes up to 15 feet of water or less with some deep water near by. These "hidden" spots get less attention and therefore your odds go up of finding a hungry 'ski. No magic baits really. I fish alot of topwater but bucktails and jerks produce lots a fish throughout the year too. Good Luck.
guideman
Hey first timer,The best thing to do is just get out there and fish. Bucktails catch a lot of fish on the Big V all season long. There should be some good action on the rocks and mainlake points however don't overlook the grass. The topwater action can be awsome at times, especially when your in the shallows. ------------------Terry "Ace" Sjobergaceguideservice.comLake VermilionMuskies and More. cliffy
Thanks guys!!!!!!! We are getting so excited for this trip!!!! My wife is not into muskie fishing but she loves the small mouth and I have heard good things about Vermillion. To be honest, it would be nice to catch at least one muskie on this trip but I will be happy just to spend time with the wife and to be away from work.
