Roof venting

Shorelunch

Recommended Posts

We had a home inspection yesterday and one of the inspector's notes is that the roof vent/cap stretching across the top of the roof has opened up. This could allow lady bugs, hornets, etc up in the attic.

(Paraphrasing) he explained that they probably originally calked the spacing but it opened up. He said it could it could be nailed down or calked, but make sure not to cover the weeping areas that allow moisture to escape.

Can anyone further explain how to best tackle this project and/or have any photos on what to do and not do?

THANKS!!!

there is a million and a half different types of ridge venting, and a another million and half scenarios that could be going on here...

Would it be possible to fill your gap with a little stainless steel wool? It would keep the critters out and let water filter out still...

But thats a SWAG without a pic of it...
