Mr. Wizard
I'm replacing windows and want to use vinyl brickmold on the progect. Anyone have any experience with what works best for a fastner? It's a dark brown color brickmold and was hoping not to have to caulk the holes the fastners make. Deck screws, casing nails?
brian6715
Use galvanized casing nails. If it's used to hold the window/door in place use 16's, if not just use 8's. Pre-drill the brickmold to the same size as the nail. When you are done, use a punch to counter sink the nails about 1/8". Hit the hole with a matching caulk, and you will never see them. EyeChsr
check for t-10 torx colored trimhead screws at a local lumber yard, they look nice as long as u don't sink them too far.
crothmeier
GRK Trimhead screws work great, but they are gold in color. They make white ones, not sure about brown.
