Esoxmn
just curious to see how many people have hired a guide to fish pike or muskie?

Trailblazin
Never did. Just learned and fished with guys that only fish for muskies. I plan to guide part time in the next year or so.
Hugo
I did it the 1st time last year. Best money I ever spent. I have the same guide booked for later in July and am looking forward to picking his brain some more. I picked up lots of little tips from him along with having a lot of fun. Only caught one small ski, but with the knowledge I gained it was well worth the money.Dave
Spinner1
I have on two occasions. Neither time urned out to be a particularly good fishing day. I did however learn techniques that I often used to catch fish later. I would highly recommend a guide for a first trip on big water. They will show you some normally productive water, even if it isn't working that day. It sure beat aimlessly flogging the Chippewa Flowage in search of a clue. stephendawg
I hired one ("Ace" a.k.a. "Guideman") last year. Had a blast! You have to go out with a good guide to fully appreciate how much you can learn about a lake and certain techniques in even a half day outing. We're on his books for this year as well. I'd go for it!------------------...Now, if I only had more time off!...Dawg
Guest
I hired "Turk" off of the St. Croix thread on here. We fished walleye and white bass (mostly walleye), and we did awesome. It was last October. I'd be willing to bet he guides for pike and/or muskie also. He knows the river very well. We went out of Stillwater. He includes a shore lunch for free if you want. You could probably fish for a bit for walleye and sauger to get some chow for shore lunch. E-mail him on the St. Croix thread for more info. A great guy even though he lives in "Cheeseland"! mavmskyb8
Guides are always a good bet! You get to learn from all those years of experience, plus have a good time!
Blackstarluver
I am going to wait until my income increases. (after finishing college) 'til I hire a guide. With what I make now the amount I could afford to tip would be considered an insult.God lyk!
