Hey guys,

A co-worker of mine is all about the Morel hunting and he has convinced me to start going. I live out in the WBL area and don't really know where to start or what to look for. I've been doing my research so I think i have a pretty good idea. Not looking for anyone to give me spots or anything like that was just wondering if the Carlos Avery acres would be a good place to start?

Thanks,

That would be a place to start. I don't particularly like to search for morels in parks or wildlife areas in the metro. Those areas draw people in and they tend to get pressured heavily. I find a lot of my morels by driving around and looking for dead elms or wooded areas that look promising. I've been known to knock on doors and ask people if I can look on their land. I always offer half of what I find to the property owner. I've never been turned down and met some really nice people. Good luck.
