Checked off a few more species on the list

Gotta a chance to chase some Wipers down in Iowa recently.

However, there is also a good population of those Asain Carps as well. I wanted to help out the eco system, so I disposed of a few of them. Here was the biggest one I got.

They put up a great fight esp on wally gear and in current.

All in all it was a fun trip.

Cool pics! Thanks for sharing.

Did you snag the bighead with a walleye pole? BTW, they're supposed to be good eatin'.

If you don't mind, where in IA? I am in the Dubuque area right now.

Yep snagged it right on top. thought i had the new Iowa state record wiper at first lol

ive had them pickled before and it was really good. they have some bones in them so not sure how one would go about gettin rids of those for any other dishes.

No worries, its no secret spot. I was at Red Rock Dam, closest town would be Pella,IA

if you go bring a tons of jigs head form 1\4-1\2, soft plastics such as paddletails or flukes worked well. but be ready to lose alot of rigs. i went tru 2 dozens jigheads.

got kinda spendy lol

Thanks gang

them carps are kind of a double edge sword, cz they put up a great fight, work well as cut bait for cats but i know they wreak havoc on the eco system.

the Wipers are a blast also and wouldnt mind some of them in MN
