you can buy a license after the 28th of feb.. im almost positive its a 2012-2013 license.. actually i think you can buy it as early as the first business day of Jan.. and then it expires April 30th, 2013.. so you get at least 12mo out of your license when you buy it.. i don't understand where you get 2 months from

Fine say you bought it in December (before new licenses are available) because you wanted to go icefishing with a buddy, you get addicted to fishing and want to open water fish also. You only get 4 months out of an annual license then.

You and me who go fishing alot usually does buy a new license early before the season, but to a newbie this may be a deterrent to getting into fishing or decides to fish without a license, which would be a loss of revenue unless they were caught and fined. However, after getting caught decides fishing is not worth it.

The technology is there for us to be able to have a license good for a year after we purchase it. That way we always get a full year no matter when we buy it. Iowa does it that way.

Again we are set at some strange arbitrary day in April when it expires, even though the license says Feb. I remember this changed a few years back and I don't remember why.

^^^ Missouri is an annual day.. I bought a out of state full year license.. $60something and i fished 2 days down there.. Some would think I got ripped off... But I got to fish.. and that's all that mattered to me... I would've liked to get back down there.. but never got around to it in time..

I suppose if i took someone out fishing towards the end of the season that had never fished before.. i would tell them to buy a 1 day or 3 day license..
