Scents for pike

Anybody using scents for pike when ice fishing?? One fellow said that the Smelly Jelly was great. Commnets on experience please.

There is a handle Smelly Jelly on this site! He fishes the metro, I think.

He would be the expet I think unless the handle is for something else.

I have not used or seen it but wonder if it is the same smelly jelly you bait bears with. It comes in great flavors, I guess.

We make up our own Toothy fish scent.
Seems to work on short biters, sometime?

Whos to tell, but it makes our minds feel good.
Simple to make really, but as most things in fishing that REALLY work it is a secret!!

I've used the commercially available scents while icing for pike.

When targeting pike, I always jig in one hole and put live or dead bait on tip-ups in the other hole (or the two other holes, or the three other holes, depending on what state I'm fishing in). So I've always got at least one bait with built-in scent.

I have drenched my jigging lures with scent, but haven't noticed any difference in bite/catch rates.
