Question

The Grebe

Recommended Posts

Okay, it has probably already been addressed in these forms somewhere, and I probably don't have the whole story and it's more then likely in the new regulation book, but since I'm here and writing, does anyone know if it is true that a person won't be able to transport minnows from lake to lake because of possible water contamination by invasive species?

From what I have read on the forums it sounds like when you get to shore you should dump out the water and replace with water that you would have brought from home (ie tap water) to be able to go to another lake My question is how will CO be able to tell unless they see you doing this

my understanding direct from the CO was the only water i could leave the landing with was the bottle of water my gf had her hand

this was last aug or sept he was hiding in the weeds and stopped me after leaving the landing and for not pulling the plug,to which when i pulled the plug not a drop came out

so unless they changed the law i know nothing about bringing water from

home and switching ,that just sounds riduclous first like some one said how would they know the differemce and secound would you want to put your minows in tap water, you would hafta to ice it down good before you went out on the lake what i do is drain the live well as they say

and it only takes like 5 mins to get too the RV then i fill it up right away si i'm kinda lucky there but i understand that wont work for to many...kinda spendy law really

As I understood it, you only have to switch the water if you put your minnows in lake water.

We used an insulated bucket last summer and it seemed to work fine.

This is in the new regulations:

Portable bait containers must be drained when leaving all waters. If

you want to keep your live bait when leaving a lake or

river, you must replace water in bait containers with

tap or bottled water.

Seems pretty clear. No exceptions are listed for insulated bait buckets.
