Lowrance 522?

Question

My gps stopped working pretty sure the antenna failed but do love the detail of the graph and the graph still works great my question is can I hook up an external puck antenna? I dont have the money to buy A new unit hopefully someone can give some ideas on what I can do. thanks TW

If you have to set up an NMEA network from scratch, plus buy an external gps antenna, you're looking at over $200, even if you can find used parts. And I think it'd be a tough call to put $200 into a 522c at this point.

Try the resets as mentioned, and hopefully they'll kick-start your gps into working again. If not, keep the 522 for sonar if you like it, and decided what to do about a gps. Good luck.

I agree 100% with Dave. The 522 has had many issues and to stick alot of money in this unit might not be the best way to spend one hard earned cash.

If the resets don't help, then I would agree that a GPS might be the best avenue to take in the long haul. Maybe a good used GPS might serve the purpose well.
