Tested forced air add-on to maple arch

Recommended Posts

I added a 60 CFM blower and tested with water today. Pretty happy overall, but I need a little more ventilation on the front end.

I put 4 inches of water in my 24 x 48 pan, and it took about 35 minutes to boil.

It has a better burn for sure, but uses a lot more wood now. No worries, this is my back up supply.

Here is a photo of the firebox. Boil was a tad weak on the back of the pan, but 30 mph winds were not helping. I had less air last year, but got a good solid boil all the way back in less windy conditions.

Today, water boiled at about 205. That why I let the hydrometer tell me when it's syrup.

Hopefully we might see some flow tomorrow afternoon. Got about 125 taps out, and have another 20-30 to go.
