90 hp Mercury 4- stroke

I just bought a new boat and it comes with a mercury. I have been told yamaha is the way to go. Is it worth the 700 dollars to put a yamaha on it? Or is it kind of like Dodge, Ford, and Chevy.

It's your money and your welcome to send it the way you want. There is very little difference in 4 stroke motors today. Mercury is a good motor.

Out of curiosity, What have you heard that would make you think that the Yamaha may be a

better way to go. I have heard differences in the tiller handles both never much heard of any thing else.

Are you considering Tiller or Remote (steering wheel)?

Tiller Handles would be one of the reasons I might consider something else if I was comparing the two.

The boat has a steering wheel. I was just wondering if one motor is that much better then the other or if people just have there brands that they prefer. I guess i havent heard of any brand haveing much for problems. And the mercury comes with a 5 year warrenty.

As stated earlier. All new 4-strokes will run great, and they all come with awesome warranties. And as you stated, it will become a Chevy, vs. ford, vs dodge when it comes to the new motors. It will come down to personal preference.

I have a 90hp 4 stroke Merc on my full windshield boat and I love it! Not a problem with it yet, very smooth and quiet.

IMO there isnt $700 dollars worth of difference in either engine. both are very good engines.

My father has the exact motor you speak of and it's awesome. Save your money. You'll be just fine.
